After miraculously surviving a plane crash in Myanmar, Allan and Susanna will share their long and painful recovery process. Allan will discuss what the discovery process is teaching him about humanity’s ability to survive and even thrive in the face of suffering.
In his book, Through the Flames, Allan tells the terrifying story of being trapped in a plane when it crashed and exploded in flames. He was severely burned in the accident, and in the days and weeks following the crash the many doctors who examined Allan determined that he would not survive. In this inspiring account of his against-all-odds recovery, Allan uses his decades of experience cultivating compassion, mindfulness, and wisdom to examine the challenge of human suffering, and addresses the question of how we can thrive in the midst of pain and adversity.
Susanna became a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner after having been immeasurably helped by SE with her own trauma.
