Do you ever get to the end of your day and know that, while you checked some things off that never-ending “list,” you still lack any true sense of satisfaction or accomplishment? Are you hearing all about meditation and mindfulness but still have no clue what the difference is between the two and where to begin? Ever have a mishap because you weren’t “paying attention” and you feel like you are living your life on auto-pilot sometimes?
This 90-minute primer to mindfulness and intentional living led by Shelly Tygielski (Certified Mindfulness Coach) and hosted by Rachel Sobel (Mom Blogger Extraordinaire) helps you start that journey from the place of “Accidental Living” to a place of “Living with Intention, Mindfully.”
To-Do lists are great, but how do they encompass our sense of purpose or vision? While its not reasonable to expect every minute of every day to be purpose-driven (like when we change that diaper or cook dinner for the fourth time this week), you can walk away with a few new tools that can help you feel a bit more chill, relaxed and fulfilled on a daily basis.
What to Bring: Nothing. We will provide you with a place to sit, something to write with and on and some healthy refreshments.
Cost: $20 per person
Ages 16 and up.
No previous experience with meditation required.
About Shelly: After almost 20 years in corporate America running Fortune 1000 firms and doing turn-arounds, Shelly finally left to pursue her dream of teaching “modern-life mindfulness” full-time. Selected by South Florida Business Journal as one of their “40 under 40” honorees and as their “Most Influential Woman in Business” in the region, Shelly’s understanding of corporate pressure and the struggle for work-life balance resonates in her workshops and seminars. Her practical approach makes it easy for anyone to be a meditator – really, ANYONE. For more information about Shelly visit www.shellytygielski.com
About Rachel: Rachel Sobel is a South Florida native (via Long Island like the rest of em). Living the NEW normal: Marriage, Baby, Divorce, Remarriage, another baby. In between navigating massive loads of laundry, cooking 32 different meals for picky eaters, doing ponytails over until they are perfect with “NO BUMPS, MOM!” and double fisting iced coffee, she finds time to write all of it down.Sometimes there’s sarcasm, sometimes there’s cursing but she always keeps it real. No filters or censorship, just a gal momming so hard and documenting it.Rachel worked her way up the proverbial corporate ladder, spending time with companies such as ESPN, Kraft Foods and Britax Child Safety. After working many years in public relations and communications launching start ups and technology companies, she decided she had enough after a particularly bad experience that made her question what the hell she was doing. She stopped with the “what ifs” and hatched a plan to leave the confines of a cubicle and live her dream as a full-time writer. (In her dream she was thinner, richer and had much more clothing without spatterings of spit-up and breast milk, but beggars can’t be choosers.)While she’s pretty Type A, she admits that you are more likely to find baby wipes and a half-eaten bag of Cheez-its in her purse than cash.
