SELF-CARE FOR TURBULENT TIMES
As large political and media machines continue to try to divide America, we believe that it is important to find ways to come together and support our sense of common humanity, community, and responsibility. Ultimately, together is our only path forward.
In Self-Care for Turbulent Times, you are invited to nourish the core of your being in a way that will help you weather the political storms, communicate and listen with compassion across seeming divides, and help work together toward a better, shared future for all.
I Me
Why do we find it so easy to love everything from New York to Chihuahuas, but can’t seem to find a little love for ourselves? Most of us struggle with feeling unworthy. We stumble into traps of self-doubt and inadequacy because we don’t know how to even begin to cultivate self-love, self-compassion and self-care. This NEW workshop with certified meditation teacher, Shelly Tygielski, will help you begin to cultivate love in your heart – for YOURSELF! If you find yourself stuck in a trance that causes you to see yourself as unworthy, not good enough, you can awaken from this thought process through the practice of mindfulness and self-compassion, by learning to trust the goodness and purity of your own heart.
SELF-CARE FOR ACTIVISTS
With self-care, Shelly invites you to nourish the core of your being in a way that will help you weather the political storms, develop a sustainable coping plan and a community of care to support the sometimes-tireless work of being an activist, a volunteer, or a community organizer. It’s essential for us to acknowledge the importance of our own self-care and to act upon it. Self-care is a movement of love amidst despair, of kindness in the face of loss as well as victory. This workshop helps us declare that we are deserving of emotional agency and understand that self-care is not frivolous, but rather, that it’s a radical act of love.
THE F#CK IT LIST
This workshop isn’t about fear or tragedy, it’s about self-empowerment. Its purpose is to make you think: “If I were to die tomorrow, have I actually maximized my growth in the time that I had?” Most of us have heard of a “Bucket List” – which is a list of things to do. Your “F*ck-it” List is about who we want to become. It’s about letting go of the things that hold us back, and learning how to make the most of our precious time. If you find that you are starting sentences with “I’ll be happy when…” — this workshop is for you!
